Odell’s Flamboyant…What does that make him? Better question: Why should we care?
Is Odell Beckham Jr. gay or straight? For the past few weeks, countless people have been wondering about this. That said, here’s a better question: WHO CARES? The fact that this is even being entertained as a topic of discussion is ridiculous.
Instead of wondering about a man’s sexual orientation, people should instead be appreciating the historic things that Beckham has been doing through the first two years of his career. In fact, let’s take a look at his stats over the past two seasons:
For starters, Odell Beckham Jr. has accomplished in two seasons what countless others fail to achieve over entire careers. In his rookie season, he produced the stats expected from a star wide receiver in only 12 games! His sophomore season showed that the continued accomplishments in his first year in the NFL weren’t some fluke.
Odell Beckham Jr.’s two-year stats are amazing, but there is one in particular that stands out. Through only 27 games played, he has amassed 2,755 receiving yards. To put that into perspective, that’s 102 yards per game over his young career! What’s more, those 2,755 receiving yards broke Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice’s record for the most in the first two years of a career.
In 2016, a person’s sexual orientation should not be a debated topic of conversation. What would it matter if he publicly announced whether he was or not? Would that make his God-given talent disappear? Would people think less of him? Would his coaches discriminate against him? It shouldn’t matter whether he is or not. All that should matter is whether he’ll be able to continue his record-breaking feats.
