“F@$% a Firework!”: Jason Pierre-Paul hasn’t lost a step, and that’s great news
July 4, 2015 was an incredibly dark day in the life of Jason Pierre-Paul and a disappointing one for the New York Giants. That was the day when Pierre-Paul suffered his now-infamous firework accident, which resulted in him severely disfiguring his right hand, including the amputation of the index finger on the hand.
Immediate reaction to the news was that Pierre-Paul’s glowing career had been cut short by his foolishness. Everyone began to simultaneously mourn Pierre-Paul’s perceived career-ending injury and trying to figure out how the New York Giants would replace his production.
However, the injury wasn’t the end of his career. Far from it. He obviously had to miss a lot of time, the first half of the 2015 NFL season, to be precise, but he worked quickly on getting back on his feet. Obviously, his first few games of action back from such a devastating injury were far from his best, but he showed good improvement by the end of the year.
Now, coming into the 2016 NFL season, Pierre-Paul elected to stay with the Giants, a move that the now 8-3 Giants are surely thankful for. This season, Jason Pierre-Paul has not only gotten back to the same heights he used to be at, but he may have even surpassed them. In yesterday’s game against the Cleveland Browns, had had 7 tackles, 3 sacks, one forced fumble, and one interception, which he returned for a touchdown.
Simply put, Jason Pierre-Paul is back in full force and anyone who doesn’t consider him as one of the top defensive ends in football is kidding themselves.
